IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. See current Biola catalog for courses that meet GE requirements. 2. The Knowledge & Skills Acquisition (KASA) requirements from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) require that students have at least one course in Social/Behavioral sciences, however, many graduate programs are looking for two courses, an Introduction to Sociology course (SOCI 220 at Biola) on student transcripts in addition to an Introduction to Psychology course (PSYC 200 at Biola). We recommend a student take both if there is room in their schedule. If not, a student should take PSYC 200. 3. KASA requirements from ASHA require that students have at least one course in the following areas before applying for certification: Biological sciences, Physical sciences, and Mathematics. MATH 210 does not count towards this requirement since it is needed to meet a research requirement under KASA, thus MATH 101 is the recommended Mathematics course to fulfill this requirement. 4. KASA requirements call for a student to demonstrate skills in another communication modality besides speech. HUFA 101 (Elementary ASL) will meet this requirement.
